RTD is cutting bus and train routes which affects our community. I'll be your advocate to restore and improve service by increasing and retaining bus and train operators!

WHY I’M RUNNING

Dear neighbor,

When I talk to folks in the community, they often ask me, “Why on God’s green earth would you want to be on the RTD Board with all the problems today?”  The answer is simple, I am great at helping people and organizations who need it.

For a decade as a teacher at a youth correctional facility for boys in Watkins, just east of Aurora, every day I work to ensure every student is inspired to reach his potential.  Most of my students come from struggling homes, and their stories and lived experience inform me so I can better teach them and advocate for them.

When I served for six years in the Colorado House of Representatives serving Arapahoe and Denver counties, I sponsored tributes and breakfasts in honor of Daddy Bruce Randolph and Corky Gonzales, had forums for legislators to meet with immigrants and refugees.  I also worked to pass bills that would expand multi-modal transportation, including bus, rail, scooters, bike lanes, and sidewalks.

RTD is not “just the bus or train”, it is the economic lifeblood of people, small businesses, affordable housing, and communities.  People with disabilities especially rely on it. If RTD suffers, our communities suffer. So, I’m going to do what I do best–ensure that RTD promotes all of them.  As your RTD Board member, I will not just bring my own voice to the Board to impact how RTD runs. I will bring thousands of your voices who I’ve heard and promoted for many years.  As a member of the LGBTQ and Jewish communities myself, I have always worked to make sure all of us move forward together.

Based on my extensive work in the community, I’ve developed invaluable connections around the metro area, have over 4,700 Twitter followers @Rosenthal5280, 4,600 friends on Facebook, over 6,000 people in my email database, and hundreds of contacts on my phone.  I’ve also developed relationships with some of the current members of the RTD Board.  So, I’m ready to hit the ground running advocating for you.

Also, already, I’m grateful to have the support of leaders like:

  • RTD Director Dr. Claudia Folska, District E
  • Arapahoe County Commissioner Bill Holen
  • Former Aurora City Councilwoman Debi Hunter
  • State Senator Rhonda Fields
  • Former RTD Director Tom Tobiassen in Aurora
  • Former RTD Director Bill McMullen (Dist. E)
  • And Many More

Let’s get RTD back on track!

Vita Lantz-Brown
“Paul is everywhere in Aurora.  He has built so many strong relationships with people in the community and in leadership.  He’s always been there for the diverse immigrant and refugee communities.  He understands the heart and soul of this city”, says Vita Lantz Brown, who is an activist in the African-American community and the Democratic Party.

State Rep. Alec Garnett, House Majority Leader

“While Paul was a vocal advocate for the bills and causes he believed in,
he also knew how to work with others to build coalitions to get things done.  I also loved how he brought diverse groups to the Capitol to promote their efforts and recognize them for their work.”

Denver City Councilwoman       Kendra Black

“I encouraged Paul to run because the RTD Board is in great need of people like him who have the particular skills and background of bringing diverse people together to move difficult projects forward. Paul has done tremendous community engagement before, during, and after he was in the legislature, so I am confident he will be an effective advocate to make sure that everyone’s voices are heard as RTD makes tough decisions going forward.”
